SYNOPSIS
Zherekhov is a seasoned operative and head of a police division in Murom. He has a wife and a ten-year-old daughter. His wife has long dreamed of moving to Moscow, but Zherekhov refuses — and that disagreement fuels constant tension at home. If not for their daughter, the two would likely have divorced long ago. To make matters worse, Major Zherekhov is secretly involved with Investigator Ivolgina. In her spare time, Ivolgina begins digging into a case that, according to Zherekhov, doesn’t even exist. She’s convinced that five young women who vanished in different districts of the Vladimir region are victims of the same killer: all of them roughly the same age and build. She insists the police must open a formal investigation, but Zherekhov flatly refuses — there are no bodies, no tangible clues.
