SYNOPSIS
On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the first voyage around the world, Magellan’s legendary expedition is retraced in an epic docu-series and a special one-off. It draws on the contributions of historians, philosophers, and great sailors, on a collection of period archives, charts and texts signed by Magellan and his contemporaries, but also spectacular aerial images filmed in the different locations that the Portuguese explorer and his crew travelled through on their long journey. Historical sequences punctuate the narrative and are recreated using modern and realistic drawings inspired by Portuguese azulejos.
